Meet The Author

Who is Qiana Farres?

A young woman with dark, curly hair pulled back on one side, wearing a white turtleneck top and layered gold necklaces, standing against a plain light gray wall.

Qiana Farres is a self-published author and illustrator from New Jersey and the creator of Kids Who Create, her first published children’s book. A creative child herself, Qiana used reading, writing, and drawing as tools for expression and confidence and continues to use creativity in her daily life.

Kids Who Create was designed to give children a safe, screen-free space to explore ideas, express emotions, and build literacy skills through creativity.

In 2019 a devastating car accident left her physically disabled, derailing her career as a Nurse & ability to work. Qiana longed for a healthy coping mechanism to escape her growing depressive state of mind. After months of journaling, Qiana used her creative gifts to produce what is today known as Kids Who Create.

After months of journaling, sharing countless short stories & various original poems with family members & friends, Qiana felt inspired to write an original book. Little did she realize this desire to write would cause her to produce Kids Who Create.

The inspiration to write a children’s book came after many drafted unpublished books & a weekend getaway with an aunt. As the traditional monthly retreat took place in the quiet suburbs of New Jersey, Titi Norma & Qiana shared wine, tears & laughs.

As the night fell in the sky, the creative ideas flew. With a brief pause between laughs, Norma asked Qiana, “Have you ever thought about writing a children’s book?” Qiana hesitated, “No… I don’t have kids. I wouldn’t know where to start.” “Start with that,” Norma firmly responded. Qiana’s creative mind began racing with ideas as her body laid motionless under the covers.

6 months later, Kids Who Create was published. An original children’s book written & illustrated by Qiana. Today Kids Who Create has inspired the confidence of thousands of children using creativity. The unique fill-in-the-blank style allows each child to experience Kids Who Create at their own level.

Not only has Kids Who Create inspired children, Qiana has received hundreds of prompts submitted by adults. Both men & women have described Kids Who Create as a book they wish they had when they were young.
